Did you know that MBTA has an award winning Animation Learning Academy?
Our students have produced several public service announcements and won a number of local awards. For a summary of awards received visit the Student Archive
In March of 2009, MBTA won 1st Place and Best in Show at the Internet Safety Awards for their piece titled Cyberbully Rap. To view this video, visit the Student Archive.
Our Disney Pixar trained team includes the dynamic duo of Danny Pai and Mike Pai. In 2005, Mike received the distinction of Technology Educator of the Year for the K-12 Public School Category in the Flavors of Technology Awards.
In Animation 1 and 2, students learn a variety of drawing and cartooning techniques bringing their artistic depictions to life. To view examples visit the Student Archive.
In Advanced Animation, students learn how to use motion cycles, staging and background techniques, lighting and digital compositing, as well as commercial grade software. To view examples visit the Student Archive.

Myron B. Thompson Academy (MBTA) is an innovative competency-based K-12 public charter school that provides high quality standards-based curriculum to all students across the state. As a school for anyone, anytime, Thompson Academy offers greater flexibility for students in a non-traditional, educational environment. Our goal is to work closer with you to provide high quality education for your children. We appreciate your dedication and commitment. The MBTA staff is ready and able to provide you with engaging online classes, face-to-face elective classes, instructional strategies, technical advice, and moral support.
The Main Office is located at 629 Pohukaina Street, Suite 3, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. The Main Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and is closed on weekends and state holidays. The phone number for the Main Office is 441-8000, and the fax number is 586-3640. More phone numbers can be found at the Contact Us link, which can be found on the menu above the rotating pictures.
